Four Directions Weaving
Donna's handwoven tapestries and rugs befing with sheep that she raises on her Adirondack farm. After the spring shearing both white and naturally colored fleeces of her Lincoln sheep are dyed using extracts of plans and minerals to yield a wide range of colors. The wool is then handspun and woven on a large wooden floor loom. The farm and weaving studio are solar and wind powered.
"In my work, I strive to connect to the weaving traditions from around the world and reinterpret them through the colors and rhythms I find here in the Adiorndack Mountains," Cris says.
